Holy Land Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Depart for the Holy Land. Overnight on your trans- Atlantic flight.
WELCOME TO THE HOLY LAND!

Day 2

ImageArrive in Tel Aviv. Transfer to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day on our own preparing for our journey or take a walking tour of Jaffa (Joppa). Here Peter received his vision leading to the expansion of missionary work to the Gentiles and also where Jonah attempted to flee from the Lord’s presence aboard a ship bound for Tarshish. (D)

Day 3

ImageToday we travel back in time to Caesarea and recall the stories of Paul preaching the gospel in the King’s Court. Hear again the words of King Agrippa to Paul, “Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.” Not far away, the road rises to Muhraqa (Mt. Carmel), site of the prophet Elijah’s contest of faith with the priests of Baal. After a lunch break, we will visit Megiddo and the Plain of Armageddon followed by Nazareth, the quaint, sacred town where Jesus Christ “grew and waxed strong in spirit…” and the Church of the Annunciation. Our last stop is Mt. Precipice. We will overnight on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. (B, D)

Day 4

The morning sun finds us onboard a replica of an ancient fishing boat on the Sea of Galilee where we will hold a Sabbath Day church service. Next we will visit: Capernaum—where Jesus lived and recruited His future apostles and Tabgha—site of the miracle of the loaves and fishes. After lunch (St. Peter’s fish) we will visit Mt. Bental in the Golan Heights for a glimpse of the Israeli bunkers.  At our next stop at Caesarea Philippi—view its beautiful stream and ancient history of the worshipers of Pan. We conclude this day at the relaxing Tel Dan Nature Reserve.  (B, L, D)

Day 5

ImageToday we start the day with a stop at the Yardenit Baptismal Site, a popular pilgrim site on the banks of the Jordan River. We will have some quiet time contemplating the Savior's baptism and also witness some Christian baptisms. We will then journey to Bet She'an where King Saul and his sons were hung from the walls. Enjoy a lunch break and a refreshing swim at Gan Ha Shlosha National Park.  After a short stop at Gideon Springs we finish our day on the Mount of Beatitudes. Hear again the words Jesus offered as He taught the “Sermon on the Mount.”      (B, D)

Day 6

ImageOur day begins as we journey past Jericho to Masada and take the aerial tram up to Herod’s mighty fortress. We then travel to the caves of Qumran where the precious Dead Sea Scrolls were found. See Ein Gedi where David hid from Saul in the caves. This afternoon we have free time for lunch and to enjoy the buoyant salty waters of the Dead Sea. We will then continue on to the sacred city of Jerusalem our home for the next three nights. (B, D)

Day 7

We begin our day with a visit to Yad Vashem, the official memorial to the six million Jews who perished in the Nazi-wrought holocaust in Europe. Next we will discover the treasures of the Israel Museum with the Shrine of the Book, the site chosen to house the priceless Dead Sea Scrolls, and then visit the Holy Land Model, a unique scale model of Jerusalem as it was at the time of Christ. We then travel to Bethlehem where we will look out on Shepherds’ Field and visit the Church of the Nativity to remember the birth of Christ. We will enjoy a unique lunch in a Bedouin tent restaurant overlooking the shepherds’ fields. (B, L, D)

Day 8

ImageToday we enter the Old City via the Dung Gate and walk along the recently excavated Roman Cardo, the main street of Roman Jerusalem where we can see the remains of the original Nehemiah’s walls before exiting through Zion’s Gate. We then visit the remarkable BYU Jerusalem Center. The view from the full-length windows of the chapel reveals a breathtaking view of the Old City and the Temple Mount. Our next stop is the House of Caiaphas where Jesus was imprisoned before His final day in mortality. After our lunch break, we visit the Room of the Last Supper. Devoid of gilded statues or ornate chapels, the simplicity of this room helps recall the poignant last moments of Christ with His beloved disciples. We will also enjoy other sites in the City of David. We will then journey through Hezekiah's Tunnel for a fascinating experience. Our last stop on the Mount of Olives leaves a lasting impression.  (B, D)

Day 9

ImageWe start the morning by climbing to Mount Moriah where Solomon's ancient temple once stood. Here on the Temple Mount we will visit the Muslim mosque and Muslim shrine - The Dome of the Rock. Winding our way along the cobbled streets of old Jerusalem, we arrive at the Wailing Wall (Western Wall). At the Pool of Bethesda we will marvel once again at Christ's miracles. We will see the area where Antonia Fortress once stood and where Christ was scourged. We will enjoy lunch with a great view of Temple Mount. Our day continues as we visit the Garden of Gethsemane and Orson Hyde Park. From the Garden of Gethsemane we travel to the beautiful Garden Tomb, believed to be the site of Jesus’ burial. Next to the Garden, there is a limestone hill which many revere as Golgotha, site of the crucifixion. After our farewell dinner we transfer back to the airport for our return flights to the USA. (B, L, D)

Day 10

Arrive back home.
